3.10 - Use your computer instead of your phone

Anything you do on both, you do faster and better on the computer. Browsing. Email. Slack. WhatsApp. Messaging. Writing. Research. The bigger screen, the real keyboard, and the more capable software make every task quicker.

The trap is the phone-in-your-pocket convenience: you check email at the grocery store, answer a Slack message while waiting for coffee, write a half-considered reply on a tiny screen. These feel productive in the moment. They're actually the opposite: slow, error-prone, distraction-inducing, and they eat the small moments of rest you'd otherwise have.

The rule: if it can wait until you're back at your desk, let it. You'll do it in a quarter of the time and with twice the quality. If you can't resist the phone, turn off the notifications that draw you to it.
